Working Groups and Committees
Immigration Rights Working Group
We engage in activism against the cruel deportations of our working class neighbors, the state agencies which carry them out and the infrastructure which facilitates them. As Democratic Socialists, we stand in solidarity with the working class regardless of who they are or where they come from, as our material concerns are inextricably linked.
Anti-Imperialism Working Group
We are focused on opposing U.S. imperialism in all its forms. We believe in diplomacy over interventionism, anti-Zionism, anti-militarism, and principled internationalism that prioritizes the working class of the world.
Through protests, press events, grassroots direct actions, educating employees at businesses of interest, and inviting the general public into our movement, we work to bring an end to U.S. Imperialism.
Housing Working Group
In the midst of a housing crisis within the state of New Hampshire, and the country at large, this working group has been established to build up tenant unions, and push our state and local government to prioritize affordable, public, and non-profit housing. We see housing as a basic human need and right, and our mission within this group is to have new and existing housing developments reflect that, and not the profits of private equity and large landlords.
Electoral Working Group
New Hampshire needs socialists in office that can take on the capitalist machine! The SNHDSA electoral working group works to elect our endorsed candidates we select from our membership to help further the cause of socialism as defined by our national program. We run electoral workshops, plan campaigns, and organize for our socialist representatives. The working class deserves more, the working class deserves everything!
Queer Feminist Working Group
We are dedicated to advancing the rights of, and raising awareness for LGBTQ+ and feminine people. We are dedicated to providing better lives and quality of living for said marginalized and oppressed people, while also fighting to preserve legal and civil protections for queer and trans people, bodily autonomy, and reproductive freedom, pushing back against bigoted legislation and discrimination in various aspects of life under capitalism.
Some of our activities include helping to run a trans clothing swap, maintaining, and expanding a New Hampshire Rainbow Book, testifying against bigoted legislation, and collaborating with local organizations to advance socialist policies and ideas. We are fighting for queer, trans, and women’s liberation and pushing back against the capitalist patriarchal status quo.
Community Works Working Group
We are dedicated to mutual aid focused initiatives and projects. We use our shared time, skills, and knowledge to support our neighbors during these difficult times, both by assisting existing mutual aid networks and directly helping community members. Join us for the opportunity to put your expertise toward direct material assistance in our community.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for overseeing the chapter’s public communications, digital presence, and outreach efforts. This includes managing the chapter’s social media platforms, helping shape messaging and promotional strategy, and ensuring members and supporters stay informed about campaigns, events, and organizing efforts. Members also assist with creating outreach and promotional materials such as posters, flyers, stickers, zines, graphics, and other print or digital media used for our organizing efforts.
In addition to content creation, the Communications Committee helps maintain and update the chapter website, supports email and text communication efforts, and works to strengthen the chapter’s public visibility and engagement across multiple platforms. The committee plays a central role in connecting the chapter with the broader community and helping communicate the organization’s goals, and political vision.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee focuses on organizing, engaging, and supporting chapter members. The committee helps maintain the chapter’s onboarding process for new members, ensuring people are welcomed into the organization and connected with opportunities to get involved.
The committee is also responsible for roster management, organizing volunteer efforts for internal chapter events, and planning social activities that help strengthen relationships and build community within the chapter. In coordination with other committees, the Membership Committee helps connect members with projects, campaigns, and organizing work that align with their interests, skills, and availability.
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee develops and implements strategies to raise funds for the chapter. This includes organizing events and other initiatives to generate revenue. The committee ensures that the chapter has the necessary resources to succeed in its organizing efforts and advance the overall mission of a more just future.
Political Education Committee
The purpose of the Political Education Committee (PEC) is to ensure that our chapter has access to educational sessions, materials and other assets that help our members expand their understanding of what it means to be a socialist organizer. Learning is half the battle; and DSA distinguishes itself from other political organizations by striving past a mobilization model that operates in accordance with the dominant discourse set by the ruling class. We must do our best to foster a welcoming environment that also helps our members become principled organizers that wield a basic understanding of foundational socialist theory and are able to decipher the capitalist propaganda that undermines our collective effort.
